Nollywood actress, Kehinde Bankole has called on all tiers of government to take immediate and coordinated action over the country’s worsening insecurity, warning that citizens are becoming increasingly frustrated with what she described as repeated “condolence speeches” from leaders.
In a post shared on Instagram on Wednesday, the actress stressed that regardless of differing views about recent violent incidents, the priority must remain the protection of lives and the restoration of public safety.
She said insecurity should no longer be treated as a “new normal,” while families continue to live in fear in different parts of the country.
Bankole urged key security institutions, including the office of the national security adviser, the Presidency, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Ministry of Defence, and other agencies, to strengthen coordination and take more decisive steps in addressing the crisis. She called for full activation of security structures and urgent action to curb rising threats nationwide.
Her comments quickly sparked widespread reactions on X, where many users echoed her concerns and demanded stronger government response:
@NaijaVoice_: “She said what everyone is thinking. Condolence messages are not enough anymore. Action is needed.”
@LagosPulseNG: “This insecurity issue has gone beyond statements. Coordinated security response is long overdue.”
@RealTalkNaija: “Celebrities keep speaking up, but will the government actually listen this time?”
