The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) has announced a three-day nationwide fasting and prayer programme over worsening insecurity, economic hardship, bloodshed, and growing concerns about Nigeria’s political future ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The Christian body said the spiritual exercise would hold from May 22 to May 24, 2026, as part of efforts to seek divine intervention for peace, healing, economic recovery, national stability, and credible elections across the country.

The decision was disclosed in a statement issued by the PFN National Publicity Secretary, Sylvanus Ukafia, following a meeting of the fellowship’s National Executive Council.
According to the statement, the resolution was reached after extensive deliberations and prayers concerning the current state of the nation and the role of the church during what it described as a critical moment in Nigeria’s history.
“This is a defining moment for the church to rise in unity and intercession for the nation,” the Fellowship stated.
The PFN expressed deep concern over persistent insecurity, attacks on communities and places of worship, rising killings, terrorism, and the worsening economic hardship affecting millions of Nigerians.
“We believe that as the church unites in prayer, God will intervene in the affairs of our nation and grant Nigeria peace, healing, stability, and a new season of hope,” the statement added.
The fellowship explained that the programme would coincide with the observance of Global Pentecost Day and would be anchored on the biblical passage in 2 Chronicles 7:14, which calls on believers to humble themselves, pray, seek God’s face, and turn from wrongdoing for healing to come upon the land.
It urged churches, pastors, Christian leaders, youths, women, workers, and believers across the country to participate actively in the spiritual exercise.

According to the PFN, Friday, May 22, and Saturday, May 23, would be dedicated to fasting and prayers in homes, churches, and local assemblies nationwide.
The fellowship added that Sunday, May 24, which marks Global Pentecost Day, would feature united prayer gatherings at designated venues across different states to conclude the programme.
The PFN said prayer sessions during the period would focus on divine intervention for Nigeria, restoration of peace and security, an end to bloodshed and criminality, economic relief for citizens, wisdom among leaders, peaceful and credible elections, and the emergence of patriotic and God-fearing leaders.
The organisation maintained that Nigeria remains a nation of great potential despite its present challenges and called on citizens, particularly Christians, to stand together in faith and unity for the country’s future.
