The army has addressed concerns following the arrest of blogger and social media influencer Justice Mark Chidiebere, known as Justice Crack.

In a statement issued on May 2, 2026, by the acting Director of Army Public Relations, Colonel Appolonia Anel, the army noted that it had received complaints from some soldiers, regarding issues related to their feeding and welfare, which Chidiebere shared online.

The statement said the situation is currently under investigation for a potential violation of the Armed Forces’ Social Media Policy and for spreading misinformation.

It explained that initial findings suggest that the soldiers had discussions with Chidiebere on various topics, with the army alleging that some of the exchanges indicated attempts to stir discontent among personnel, including discussions that could be considered subversive.

The statement stressed that any attempts by civilians to sway military personnel towards actions that could jeopardize discipline and national security are taken very seriously due to their significant consequences.

Consequently, Justice Chidiebere was arrested along with the soldiers involved for further investigation.

The army added that while the soldiers are in military custody, Chidiebere has been transferred to the relevant civil authorities for additional investigation and potential prosecution.

The army reiterated its dedication to upholding the rule of law and stated that it will continue collaborating with appropriate agencies to ensure justice is served while protecting national sovereignty.
