Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Fintiri, has accepted the call by residents of Adamawa North Senatorial District, to contest for a seat in the Senate.
According to a statement from the Government House on Friday, the decision followed consultations and what it described as overwhelming appeals from stakeholders across the zone.
Gov. Fintiri is expected to formally declare his intention on Saturday, May 2, 2026, in response to calls from constituents in the “M5” areas Madagali, Michika, Mubi North, Mubi South, and Maiha Local Government Areas.
The event will be held at the Government Lodge, Mubi, by 10:30 a.m.
In the statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou, the governor commended the people of Adamawa North for their courage, resilience, and solidarity, noting their commitment to peace and development in the region.

He also expressed appreciation for their continued support, saying: “To the good people of the M5, I extend heartfelt gratitude for the trust and confidence reposed in me over the years.
“I pledge to carry that trust with humility, responsibility, and renewed dedication to service.”
The announcement signals the governor’s formal entry into the race for the Senate seat representing Adamawa North Senatorial District.
