Man storms APC national secretariat, accusing party of neglect after selling his ₦30m house

A dramatic scene unfolded at the All Progressives Congress (APC) national secretariat in Abuja on Friday, when an unidentified man protested, claiming the party had not fulfilled its promises after he supported them.

The man, whose identity is still unknown, alleged that he sold his house for over ₦30 million to fund the party’s activities during the 2023 general elections.

He stated that despite his sacrifice, he has received no assistance from the party and is now without a home.

In a video that has gone viral on social media, the protester emotionally shared his story, mentioning that he also lost his wife during this time, which has compounded his difficulties.

“I sold my house, spent over ₦30 million for APC in 2023. My wife died, and now I’m homeless. The party has not rewarded me,” he said.

The incident has sparked mixed reactions on X (formerly Twitter), with some Nigerians expressing sympathy for his plight, while others questioned the validity of his claims and criticized the expectation of personal rewards for political support.

@viasgris commented: “Last I checked, issues like this were family quarrels… Let him go inside and meet whoever can handle and solve his problem. Why must he air his grievances in public? He supported his personal lord and savior, so let him deal with it.”

@Frank_Nero remarked that “Those in the background are shouting ‘who sent you?’ Most of them are also experiencing what that man is going through but choose to seek attention. Just imagine doing your part for your party and at this point, nobody cares about you.”

@AliceJegede stated: “Politics is not a business venture. If you ‘invest’ ₦30 million in a campaign expecting a ‘reward,’ you are part of the transactional politics that has held Nigeria back. It’s a tragic story, but it’s also a lesson on the dangers of political mercantilism.”
