The Adamawa State government has announced the resignation of two commissioners, while approving major projects valued at over ₦7 billion to boost infrastructure and public welfare across the state.
The outgoing officials Felix Tangwami, Commissioner for Health and Human Services, and Tijjani Maksha, Commissioner for Livestock and Aquaculture Development stepped down with immediate effect.
The development was disclosed on Wednesday after the State Executive Council meeting held in Yola and presided over by the Deputy Governor, Kaletapwa George Farauta.
Briefing journalists, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, James Iliya, said the resignations would allow the former cabinet members to pursue elective positions ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The council approved ₦7,066,907,007 for the renovation of classrooms, examination halls, offices, and fencing of selected primary and secondary schools across the state.

Officials said the move is aimed at improving the learning environment and strengthening the education sector.
In the water sector, ₦459,694,685.85 was approved for the installation of a 20-kilometre water distribution pipeline in Mubi town, which has reportedly lacked a functional water supply since 1989.
The council also ratified ₦147,958,358.97 for a water supply network at the newly constructed Yola Main Market in Yola South Local Government Area.
Additionally, a contract worth ₦149,707,497.00 was awarded for the upgrade of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp in Damare, Girei Local Government Area, aimed at improving living conditions for displaced residents.
Further details on the projects were provided by the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Umar Garba-Pella, and the Commissioner for Water Resources, Ayuba Audu Tanko, who noted that the initiatives align with the government’s development priorities.
The council also expressed concern over poor compliance with the monthly environmental sanitation exercise, urging residents to adopt better hygiene practices to safeguard public health.
The approvals underscore the state government’s focus on infrastructure renewal, improved service delivery, and enhanced quality of life for citizens.
