U.S. President Donald Trump has commended security agencies following a shooting incident in Washington, D.C., describing their response as “quick and brave” after a suspect was apprehended.
In a statement posted on his social media account on Sunday, Trump said the United States Secret Service and other law enforcement personnel acted decisively to contain the situation.
“Quite an evening in D.C. The Secret Service and Law Enforcement did a fantastic job. They acted quickly and bravely. The shooter has been apprehended,” he wrote.
Trump indicated he had initially suggested that scheduled activities should proceed despite the disruption, stating he recommended that authorities “let the show go on.”
However, he emphasized that any final decision would rest entirely with law enforcement officials on the ground.
“I will be guided by Law Enforcement. They will make a decision shortly,” he added.

The former president acknowledged that the incident would significantly alter the course of the evening’s events, noting that even if activities continued, they would not unfold as originally planned.
“Regardless of that decision, the evening will be much different than planned, and we’ll just, plain, have to do it again,” he said.
Authorities have yet to release full details about the suspect or the motive behind the shooting. Investigations are ongoing, and security presence in parts of Washington has been heightened as a precaution.
No official confirmation of casualties has been issued at the time of reporting.
