A Kaduna State High Court has adjourned the bail hearing of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, to the first week of June 2026, extending proceedings in his ongoing legal battle over alleged financial crimes and abuse of office.
The adjournment followed a ruling by Justice Darius Khobo during court proceedings in Kaduna on April 21, 2026.
The former governor is currently facing multiple charges filed by the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC).
Court records indicate that the case has experienced a series of adjournments in recent weeks, with earlier sittings moving between March and April as arguments over his bail application continued.

At the latest hearing on Tuesday, the defence counsel raised objections to the repeated delays, describing the extended adjournment as unjustified.
However, prosecution lawyers argued that due legal processes must be fully observed before a final decision on bail can be reached.
El-Rufai remains a central figure in the case, which involves allegations of financial mismanagement and abuse of public office during his tenure as governor.
Observers note that the repeated adjournments highlight the procedural complexity often associated with high-profile corruption trials in Nigeria, where extensive legal arguments, multiple charges, and court scheduling challenges can significantly delay pre-trial outcomes.
The case continues to draw political attention, given El-Rufai’s influence in national politics.
