The Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has warned members of the State Executive Council to remain loyal and committed to the policies of his administration or risk being removed from office.

The governor issued the warning on Thursday during the 38th meeting of the State Executive Council held at the Government House in Kano. His remarks came in the wake of recent political developments in the state that led to the resignation of several cabinet members.

Yusuf disclosed that five commissioners had stepped down from their positions following a political realignment within the state. According to the governor, the resignations have already been accepted by the administration.

He urged the remaining members of the cabinet to stay focused on their duties and support the government’s programmes aimed at improving the lives of residents across the state. The governor, however, made it clear that any official found acting against the principles and direction of the administration would be removed from office.

Yusuf stressed that unity within the council is essential for effective governance. He warned that acts of disloyalty, internal rivalry and the leaking of official government information would no longer be tolerated within the administration.

The governor described members of the council as one family and called for stronger cooperation to advance policies that will benefit the people of Kano State.

During the meeting, Yusuf also congratulated candidates of the ruling party who emerged victorious in the recent by-elections conducted in the state. He further praised the successful conduct of the party’s congresses at the ward, local government and state levels, and congratulated Haruna Umar Doguwa on his emergence as the party’s state chairman.

The governor also highlighted some initiatives of his administration aimed at improving public engagement and social welfare. According to him, the state government recently distributed 600 motorcycles to digital media influencers across the 44 local government areas to enhance public awareness of government policies and programmes.

He added that the administration has established 150 feeding centres across the state to provide food support to vulnerable families during the holy month of Ramadan.

Observers say the governor’s warning reflects a push to strengthen discipline within the cabinet while maintaining political stability amid ongoing realignments in Kano’s political landscape.
