Calls are intensifying for former Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, to contest the 2027 presidential election, but the respected statesman has yet to make any official declaration. This was confirmed by Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, a prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New People’s Democratic Party (nPDP), who addressed the mounting public curiosity in a press statement issued Friday.
Eze revealed that he receives daily inquiries from Nigerians at home and abroad regarding Amaechi’s political direction for 2027. He emphasized, however, that Amaechi is not one to make hasty political decisions and is currently seeking divine guidance before announcing his next move.
“Every day, Nigerians ask me if Amaechi will run for president in 2027. But the former Minister is a man of deep faith who allows God to guide his political path. When the time is right, he will speak,” Eze said.
He criticized the current state of the nation’s leadership, warning that Nigeria’s political and democratic structures are in rapid decline. According to him, the growing demand for Amaechi to contest the presidency is a direct result of public frustration with President Tinubu’s administration.

“The government is more focused on manipulating the process to retain power in 2027 than solving the real problems of Nigerians. Hunger, insecurity, violent crimes, and a collapsing economy define our current reality,” Eze lamented.
He accused the presidency of prioritizing power retention over public welfare, adding that such desperation runs counter to democratic principles. Eze described Amaechi as a beacon of hope in a system plagued by failure, and reaffirmed that the former Minister’s sterling public service record positions him as a top contender for national leadership.
“Amaechi is not just qualified, he is a national asset. His selfless leadership, proven track record, and fearless commitment to the people make him the ideal presidential candidate. Nigeria needs someone with his kind of resolve to turn things around,” Eze declared.
While urging supporters to remain calm and prayerful, he reiterated that once Amaechi reaches a decision, the public will be the first to know. He also hinted at the possibility of unexpected political twists as the 2027 elections draw nearer, suggesting that even President Tinubu’s chances could be undermined by both internal failures and international scrutiny.
“2027 will shock many. With the failures we’ve seen, and if foreign agencies follow through with the drug-related files they reportedly have on the president, Tinubu might not even be eligible to contest. But Amaechi? He never begged for power, every position he’s held was a result of divine orchestration,” Eze noted.
