Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has vowed to revitalize the Biu Dam to boost irrigation farming in the southern part of the state.
The governor made this commitment during a visit to the Emir of Biu, Mai Mustapha Umar Mustapha II, at his palace as part of his two-day working tour of the area.
Governor Zulum emphasized that the Biu Dam is a priority project for his administration, aimed at addressing water scarcity and improving agricultural productivity in Biu and neighboring communities.
Speaking at the palace, Zulum assured the Emir, stating, “Your Highness, I want to assure you that we will revitalize the Biu Dam to enhance irrigation farming in your emirate. Agriculture remains a key focus of my administration, and we are committed to ensuring food security across the state.”

The governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to supporting victims of the Boko Haram insurgency by providing sustainable livelihoods through enhanced agricultural initiatives.
He also announced that more developmental projects would be implemented in the region before the end of his tenure.
Governor Zulum further highlighted the unity among political leaders in Borno, stressing that their collective efforts have contributed to the state’s stability and progress.
In response, the Emir of Biu commended the governor for executing several people-oriented projects in the emirate. He also lauded the recent launch of a ₦1 billion empowerment program aimed at supporting youth and vulnerable individuals in the area.
