Angry youths of Ikot Andem Village in Ukanafun Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State have protested against the killing of one Ufot Joe.
The youth president of the community was killed by suspected cultists along the village road on Monday The Trumpet gathered.
A witness, Akaniyene Inyang, said the incident occurred on the lonely village road linking Ekparakwa axis of the community about 7.00 pm after the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Senatorial District primaries. It was gathered that the victim was waylaid and shot dead by the hoodlums while riding his new motorcycle back home.

“The late Joe was riding on his motorcycle from his village, Ikot Andem, and was ambushed by suspected cultists. who opened fire on him and fled with his motorcycle, leaving him dead in the pool of his blood.”
Continuing, he said it was too late for him to be rescued as neighbours arrived following alarm raised by passersby , who discovered that the victim has lost much blood from the gunshot wounds.

He disclosed that the motorcycle snatched from the deceased was an empowerment gift to him by a politician representing the area in the House of Representatives, Mr. Unyime Idem. One of the youths’ leaders, who spoke on condition of anonymity, explained that “the matter had been reported to the Police for immediate investigation with a view to apprehending the suspects.”
Meanwhile, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in AKwa Ibom SP Odiko Mcdon when contacted on phone said the command has not received the report but promised to investigate when there is official report on the incident.
“I am in a meeting,” he said, promising to revert, when fully briefed on the incident from the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) incharge of the area.
