Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has given assurances that contractors working on the failed portion of Obadan Junction along the Benin-Ekpoma Expressway are working hard to complete the road before Christmas.
Gov. Okpebholo, who inspected the ongoing road project for the third time on Thursday evening, since his inauguration on November 12, 2024, said the contractors are working round the clock to complete the project. He said when the road is fixed, motorists will enjoy travelling during this festive period.
The governor said his administration has fully keyed into the renewed hope agenda of President Bola Tinubu, in order to ensure that Edo people enjoy the full dividends of democracy.
Gov. Okpebholo said his administration will appeal to Tinubu for a refund the money spent on rehabilitating the road after the completion of the project.
He noted that the road is a gateway between the South, East and northern parts of Nigeria and as such, it is very important to get it fixed for the people.

“Work is ongoing to fix the failed portion of this road at Obadan Junction of the Benin-Auchi Road. These people are working really hard. I don’t know if they really sleep. We need to fix this road between now and Christmas because without this road, people will find it very difficult to travel.
“It is important that the road is fixed between now and Christmas. This is the third time I am coming to this place to monitor the progress of work to ensure that it is completed on time.
“This road is a gateway between the South East and northern part of the country. It is important that this road is completed before the festive period to enable our people travel in comfort to their various destinations.
“This is a federal road in Edo State and it doesn’t really matter. People from Edo State, eastern and northern parts of the country use this road.
“Our focus is to ensure that the road is motorable. If we are able to fix the road, we can appeal to Mr. President to refund the money to us.
“If the road is not done, the people using it will surely suffer from it even as the federal government is trying its best to ensure that Nigerians enjoy the dividends of good governance.
“Doing this road will boost the credibility of our party and the government of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Nothing is wrong in fixing this road for Edo people,” he declared.
