Enyimba striker Victor Mbaoma was in the spotlight against Kwara United in matchday33 fixture as his hattrick ensured the 2004 CAF Champions League winners maintained the continental spot on the Nigeria Professionals Football League (NPFL) table at the weekend.
Mbaoma, presently the leading goalscorer with 15 goals in the Nigeria topflight league, scored successively in the 3rd, 15th and 54th minutes against Kwara United to gift the Aba-based club a 3-nil victory.
The eighth-time NPFL league winners top Remo Stars placed fifth on the league table with one point and two points above Kwara United that were partitioned in three’s on sixth position at the Enyimba Stadium on Saturday in Aba. Mbaoma’s performance is to reemphasise to Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro, why he should have been included among the national team’s squad processing the AFCON qualifiers in the continent.

However, Enyimba who once dominated clubs football in the African continent for two consecutive seasons (2003, 2004) contend for the continental spot with fellow Eastern club Enugu Rangers, Remo Stars, and Kwara United.
Spurred by the win, Enyimba who lost 2-1 to Niger Tornadoes in last week’s fixture will hope to consolidate the continental spot when they travel to play relegation wallowing side MFM next week’s Sunday, June 19, 2022.
