Influencer and social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has issued a warning to suspected thugs following an alleged attack on protesters during a demonstration in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The activist reacted after the disruption of the “Save Our Children” protest, a peaceful demonstration organised to demand the rescue of abducted pupils, teachers, and other victims from Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

A viral video making rounds on X showed suspected thugs allegedly attacking protesters and attempting to stop the protest.

In response, VDM condemned the incident and warned that any future attempt to disrupt peaceful protests organised by his supporters, known as the Ratels, would not be ignored.

“After what happened at the protest in Ibadan with the thugs that attacked us, anytime the Ratels come out for a peaceful protest again, any thug that comes out to disrupt the protest has been warned in advance,” he stated.

The statement has sparked reactions across social media, with some supporters applauding his stance while others expressed concerns over the intensity of his warning.

The development has further increased public discussions around peaceful protests, citizens’ rights, security challenges, and the rising concerns over insecurity in Nigeria.
