Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has ordered the immediate enforcement of stricter access control measures at the Government House in Asaba, restricting the movement of political appointees, visitors and other persons without official business within the seat of government.

The directive, which is to be enforced by the Governor’s Chief Security Officer (CSO), also mandates the profiling of all personnel working within the Government House, with only duly identified staff possessing officially signed identity cards to be granted access through the main gate.

Sources familiar with the development disclosed that political appointees whose offices are located outside the Government House have been barred from entering the premises unless they have official clearance or pressing government business.

The restrictions, according to the source, also extend to visitors, while attendance at the Government House chapel for morning prayers has been limited.

The source further disclosed that, except for the Deputy Governor, commissioners and other senior government officials whose offices are within the Government House, political appointees such as Senior Special Assistants (SSAs), Special Assistants (SAs) and other aides without offices or official duties inside the complex have been directed to stay away.

According to the source, the Governor’s decision followed allegations contained in a viral video circulated by social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM).

In the video, a young woman alleged that she had been in a relationship for over two years with a driver attached to the Governor’s convoy, identified simply as Lucky, who allegedly impregnated her after she had previously terminated two pregnancies for him.

The woman claimed that after being encouraged to keep the pregnancy, she was later prevented from returning to the Government House residence where she had allegedly been living with the driver. She alleged that security personnel informed her they were acting on directives from the Chief Security Officer and another official identified as “PapaSara.”

She further alleged that after being abandoned, she eventually travelled to Abuja, where she was introduced to individuals allegedly involved in child trafficking. According to her account, she was induced to deliver her baby prematurely and agreed to part with the child in exchange for ₦2.2 million before later attempting unsuccessfully to reverse the arrangement.

The woman said she subsequently sought the intervention of VeryDarkMan, who allegedly assisted in recovering the child and pledged to ensure that everyone found culpable faces the law.

The Government House source said Governor Oborevwori, after becoming aware of the allegations circulating online, ordered the tightening of security and access protocols within the Government House pending further developments.

As of the time of filing this report, the Delta State Government had not issued any official statement linking the new security measures to the allegations contained in the viral video, while the claims made by the woman remain unverified independently. Likewise, no official response had been obtained from the individuals named in the video regarding the allegations
