Tensions are rising at the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) following the suspension of several senior security officials who allegedly attempted to block a team linked to Elon Musk, known as ‘DOGE’, from accessing the agency’s systems.
The controversy has sparked a heated debate, drawing sharp criticism from former President Donald Trump, who blasted USAID’s leadership as “a bunch of radical lunatics”, accusing them of corruption that he claims will soon be exposed by Musk’s team.
Adding to the speculation, some observers believe that Musk’s involvement suggests he may already be aware of classified projects such as Project PREDICT, which has been linked to biological activities in Ukraine. Influential commentator @Caldestine emphasized the significance of the probe, tweeting: “Trump is digging in the exact area the Deep State does not want him to dig. The USAID holds the paper trail that proves their criminality!”
On the other side of the debate, critics warn of a major national security threat, questioning the implications of an unelected billionaire gaining access to sensitive government data. Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) sounded the alarm, stating: “This is a five-alarm fire. The people elected Donald Trump to be President – not Elon Musk. Having an unelected billionaire, with his own foreign debts and motives, raiding US classified information is a grave threat to national security.”

Concerns are also growing over the global fallout of the USAID scandal, with fears that it could weaken America’s diplomatic standing and give geopolitical rivals like China an advantage. Foreign policy expert @BRhodes warned: “What is happening to USAID will cost untold lives around the world, devastate America’s standing, and massively empower China and other countries.”
Senator Elizabeth Warren echoed these concerns, condemning Musk’s access to USAID’s systems while holding Republicans responsible for potential fallout. She declared: “No one elected Elon Musk. As Donald Trump allows Musk to access people’s personal information and shut down government funding, Republicans in Washington will also own the consequences.”
With political tensions reaching a boiling point, the unfolding USAID controversy raises critical questions about government transparency, national security, and the influence of private individuals in federal affairs. As investigations continue, the impact on U.S. global leadership and domestic politics remains uncertain.
