Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to partnering with the private sector as a key driver of economic growth, job creation, and sustainable development in the state.

The Governor spoke at the official commissioning of a new Zenith Bank branch in Uyo, where he praised the bank for its reputation for integrity, professionalism, and excellence in Nigeria’s financial sector.

Governor Eno recalled his long-standing business relationship with Zenith Bank, noting that the institution played a significant role in the growth of Royalty Hotels, the hospitality brand he founded before entering public service. He expressed confidence that the bank would extend similar support to Micro, Small and Medium-scale Enterprises (MSMEs) across the state to help them thrive.

He commended Zenith Bank for expanding its footprint in Akwa Ibom and assured the bank of the state government’s continued support to ensure the success and profitability of the new branch.

The Governor also lauded the operations of Anchor Insurance, located opposite the new branch, while urging the company’s management to improve the outlook of its building.

Earlier, the Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Zenith Bank Plc, Dame Dr. Adaora Umeoji, described the commissioning as a major milestone in the bank’s history.

She thanked the Akwa Ibom State Government and Governor Eno for their consistent support, noting that the Governor’s presence at the event despite his tight schedule underscored his commitment to private sector development.

Dame Umeoji described Akwa Ibom as one of Nigeria’s most business-friendly, cleanest, and fastest-growing states, attributing this to deliberate government policies that create a conducive environment for businesses.

She noted that Zenith Bank has maintained a cordial relationship with the state for over 25 years and reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to supporting employment generation, business growth, and economic development. She also encouraged entrepreneurs, particularly women-owned businesses, to take advantage of the bank’s growth-focused initiatives.

The event was attended by the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah; the Executive Assistant and Chief Delivery Advisor to the Governor, Mr. Aniefiok Johnson; former Minister of Petroleum, Atuekong Don Etiebet; members of the State Executive Council and House of Assembly; local government chairmen; and other top government officials.
