United States President Donald Trump has said he may not be able to attend the upcoming wedding of his son, Donald Trump Jr., due to ongoing official responsibilities and international developments.
Speaking to reporters at the White House on Thursday, Trump explained that the wedding, scheduled to take place over the Memorial Day weekend, would be a small and private ceremony involving close family members and friends.
According to the president, his demanding schedule including matters relating to tensions involving Iran and other national issues could prevent him from attending the event.
Trump Jr. is set to marry Palm Beach socialite Bettina Anderson after months of speculation surrounding their relationship and wedding plans.
Reports indicate the couple initially considered a larger ceremony later in the year but eventually opted for a more intimate gathering due to heightened political and international tensions.
Sources close to the family said the couple deliberately chose a low-profile event focused on privacy and close relationships rather than a grand public celebration.
The relationship between Trump Jr. and Anderson became public in late 2024 shortly after the president’s eldest son ended his engagement to former television personality Kimberly Guilfoyle.

The couple later announced their engagement following a private proposal at Camp David in December 2025 during Anderson’s birthday celebration.
In recent weeks, members of the Trump family, including Ivanka Trump, reportedly attended a bridal shower organized for Anderson at Mar-a-Lago in Florida.
Despite uncertainty surrounding the president’s attendance, sources say the wedding ceremony is expected to remain a tightly controlled private affair.
