Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), working alongside Operation DESERT SANITY V/SIEGE OPERATIONS, have sustained intensified military offensives across the North-East, recording significant victories against Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists while also strengthening civil-military cooperation ahead of the Eid-el-Adha celebrations.

According to the military high command, the operations led to the foiling of planned terrorist attacks, neutralisation of insurgents, arrest of criminal collaborators, recovery of arms and ammunition, and the rescue of abducted civilians across several parts of the theatre.

In one of the major operations, troops intercepted coordinated terrorist activities along the Buratai–Chara axis in Borno State after surveillance systems detected a large movement of Boko Haram/ISWAP fighters. Troops immediately engaged the terrorists with heavy offensive firepower, forcing them to retreat in disarray.

Quick Response Forces subsequently launched follow-up pursuit operations which reportedly inflicted heavy casualties on the fleeing insurgents. Troops also recovered 169 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition during the encounter, while no casualty was recorded among security personnel.

Similarly, troops of the 27 Task Force Brigade, in collaboration with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) and local hunters, carried out a successful ambush around Kasaicia village in Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State following credible intelligence.

During the operation, four Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists were neutralised, while troops recovered two AK-47 rifles and empty magazines from the scene.

In another encounter, troops of Sector 1 OPHK successfully repelled a terrorist attack along the Kirawa axis, inflicting severe losses on the attackers while maintaining dominance over the operational area.

The military also disclosed that coordinated offensives were conducted across strategic locations including the Damboa–Kanama corridor, Damboa–Gwoza road, Goniri axis, and Forward Operating Base Azir, with the aim of denying terrorists freedom of movement and disrupting their logistics networks.

Beyond counter-insurgency operations, troops also intensified efforts against criminal elements operating within the theatre.

In Biu Local Government Area of Borno State, troops arrested three suspected armed robbers at Gar Gwigwi village following actionable intelligence. Recovered items included mobile phones, wristwatches, charms, cash, a dagger, and a dane gun, which was later returned to its verified owner.

Elsewhere, troops arrested a suspected terrorist collaborator in Monguno, while another operation in Mubi South Local Government Area of Adamawa State led to the arrest of a suspected drug peddler found with substances believed to be cannabis sativa.

Military authorities confirmed that all suspects are currently in custody undergoing further investigation.

The theatre also recorded progress in rescue missions as troops rescued more abducted civilians along the Ngoshe–Amuda axis. The military said the latest rescue brings the total number of persons rescued from the Ngoshe incident to 69.

In a related development, another kidnapped civilian was rescued in the Gwoza axis. The victim reportedly escaped from terrorist captivity due to sustained military bombardment and pressure mounted on insurgent enclaves within the Mandara Mountains.

The military reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining offensive operations across the North-East in order to restore lasting peace, protect communities, and ensure residents celebrate the Eid-el-Adha festivities without fear.
