The operation, conducted in the early hours of Tuesday, July 1, 2026, along the Akpe Aggah–Egbema Forest axis, led to the arrest of the suspect at Obiakpu Forest in Imo State, marking another breakthrough in ongoing military efforts to dismantle criminal networks operating in the South East.
According to the Nigerian Army, preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect allegedly served as the principal armourer and logistics coordinator for a criminal group believed to be responsible for repeated attacks on oil facilities and security personnel deployed in the Ohaji–Egbema area.
During the raid, troops recovered a substantial cache of arms and ammunition, including one AK-47 rifle, one M4A1 carbine, one M16A2 rifle, six magazines, five pump-action guns, one locally fabricated pistol, and a large quantity of assorted ammunition.
Military authorities described the recovery as a significant operational success, noting that the seizure would considerably disrupt the group’s logistics network and reduce its capacity to launch further attacks on critical national infrastructure and security formations.
