
The Nigerian Armed Forces have recorded some success against the criminal elements ravaging the North central geo-political zone as three gunrunners and two kidnappers were arrested in separate operations.
Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Benard Onyeuko, disclosed this in a press statement made available to newsmen on Monday, saying the troops of Operation Safe Haven arrested the suspects.
Gen Onyeuko said the gun runners were arrested on 24 July at Shimakar village, Shendam Local Government Area of the State.
He named the suspects Julius Simon (alias Bagga) – 37yrs, Wolta Zambai – 45yrs, and Iliya Peter (alias Doubok) 27yrs.
He further named the arrested kidnap suspects as Alhaji Musa Usman 27yrs and Adam Mohammed 25yrs at Barkin Ladi, while noting that the suspects were arrested at Barkin Ladi, Plateau State on 24 July.

“Troops of Operation Safe Haven have continued to sustain their operational tempo in their Area of Operation. Notably, on 24 July 2022 troops on clearance operation arrested Three (3) suspected gun runners at Shimakar village Shendam Local Government Area of Plateau State namely; Mr Julius Simon (alias Bagga) – 37yrs, Mr Wolta Zambai – 45yrs and Mr Iliya Peter (alias Doubok) 27yrs. Suspects currently undergoing investigation.
“Similarly, on the same day, troops arrested Two (2) kidnappers; Alhaji Musa Usman 27yrs and Adam Mohammed 25yrs at Barkin Ladi, Plateau State. suspects confessed to have carried out several kidnapping activities in the general area including the kidnap of one Master Jeremiah Elijah a 6yrs old which took place on 21 July 2022. Suspect in custody undergoing further interrogation,” Onyeuko stated.
While commending the troops, the Military High Command appealed to the general public to always cooperate with the military by providing credible and timely information on criminal activities.
