Former Osun Central Senator, Olusola Adeyeye, has said only President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and former Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola, can resolve their lingering political differences, suggesting that reconciliation between the two former allies would ultimately depend on their willingness to forgive each other.
Adeyeye made the remarks while appearing on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics on September 27, 2026, where he was asked whether anyone could successfully reconcile Tinubu and Aregbesola.

Adeyeye: Only Tinubu and Aregbesola Can Forgive Each Other
Speaking about the longstanding differences between Tinubu and Aregbesola, Adeyeye said the responsibility for resolving the dispute ultimately rests with the two men.
Asked whether there was anyone who could bring them together, he said:
“I don’t know; only God knows. When things get to be like this, only the two of them can forgive each other.”
Adeyeye said he would welcome a reconciliation because of what it could mean for the APC and President Tinubu’s political campaign.
Adeyeye Wants Tinubu, Aregbesola Reconciled
The former senator said his preference was for the two politicians to settle their differences and work together again.
He explained that bringing members of the political family together would strengthen the APC’s position in the South-West.
“My wish would be for my party and for the president, because I want the president to win, and if he must, we must bring everybody together,” he said.
Adeyeye has previously spoken about his efforts to reconcile Tinubu and Aregbesola, describing their former relationship as a particularly close political alliance.

Aregbesola’s ADC Affiliation Could Complicate Reconciliation
Adeyeye acknowledged that Aregbesola’s current political affiliation could make an immediate reunion more difficult.
Aregbesola is associated with the African Democratic Congress, an opposition party, while Adeyeye remains involved with the APC presidential campaign structure.
According to Adeyeye, it could be difficult for Aregbesola to abandon his current political platform because of the expectations of those who support him.
“It won’t look good to his admirers, especially those who follow him to that party,” he said.

While questioning the ADC’s performance in the August 15, 2026 Osun governorship election, Adeyeye distinguished between the performance of a political party and Aregbesola’s personal political influence.
Aregbesola was not a candidate in the election.
Adeyeye asked how the ADC performed in areas such as Ilesa and Osun Central, where Aregbesola has strong political connections.
However, he acknowledged that the situation would be different if Aregbesola were personally contesting an election.
“If Aregbesola is the candidate, it’s a different matter,” Adeyeye said.
He added that the former governor remained popular in the state.
“The truth is he’s still a magnificent person, much loved. If he were a candidate, believe you me, anybody would be hard-pressed to beat him in Osun,” he said.
Adeyeye Speaks on Tinubu’s 2027 Campaign
The former senator also linked the proposed reconciliation between Tinubu and Aregbesola to the APC’s preparations for the 2027 presidential election.
Adeyeye, who serves as South-West Coordinator of the APC presidential campaign council, said the party needed unity across the region.
He also expressed confidence that the APC would retain its support base in the South-West, describing the 2027 contest as an election in which parties would need strong organisation and mobilisation.
“Anyone from any party who thinks the next election will be easy for it is suffering self-delusion. We in the APC, we work very hard to win,” he said.
Adeyeye added that he expected the APC to perform strongly in the South-West.
His comments represent his position as an APC campaign official and should not be taken as an established prediction of the election outcome.
Tinubu-Aregbesola Relationship Has a Long Political History
