Popular Nigerian singer Timi Dakolo has broken his silence after disc jockey DJ Timmy accused him of owing money and threatened to expose his alleged private affairs if the debt was not settled.

DJ Timmy had earlier claimed that Dakolo failed to pay for services rendered and gave the singer a deadline to clear the alleged debt, warning that he would reveal details of his alleged “sexual escapades” to his wife if payment was not made.

Responding through his lawyer, Dakolo dismissed the allegations as false, defamatory and malicious, describing them as a calculated attempt to damage his reputation.

In a statement shared on his Instagram page, the singer explained that the disputed claims relate to expenses allegedly incurred for venue arrangements, graphic design, domain registration, website fees, video editing, video deposits and consultation services.

Dakolo maintained that he does not owe DJ Timmy the amount being claimed and insisted that the allegations are entirely unfounded.

He added that the accusations have caused reputational harm to him and his family.

The singer also disclosed that legal action has already been initiated against the disc jockey over the alleged defamatory statements and threats.

The public fallout has since sparked widespread reactions on social media, with many Nigerians divided over the dispute between the two.
