There is palpable tension in Uyo Akwa Ibom state capital as police launch a manhunt to arrest unknown gunmen who beheaded a woman along Banking Layout, Udo Udoma Avenue in Uyo city.
It was gathered that the incident occurred last Sunday night as residents of the area and bank workers were shocked the following morning when they saw the corpse of a woman with her head sharply cut off from the body.
An eyewitness who pleaded anonymity explained that the corpse was found in a pool of her blood near the fence of Akwa Ibom State Internal Revenue Service ( AKIRS) but was quickly evacuated by the police on Monday afternoon.
“We were shocked on Monday morning when we came to work and found the corpse lying close to our entrance”
Another eyewitness working with the state Revenue Service but refused to mention her name said the victim cultivates fallow land around the banking layout and lives within the farm.

she said the killers abandoned her body by the roadside and bolted away
Confirming the incident, Akwa Ibom State Police Public Relations Officer ( PPRO) SP Odiko Mcdon said the command received a report of the incident and the state Commissioner of Police Olatoye Durusimmi has ordered investigation into the incident.
“We received the report and our men rushed to the scene. She was beheaded but other parts of the body were intact.
“The Commissioner of Police Olatoye Durusimmi has ordered a discreet investigation into the incident.
“We assure Akwa Ibom people that the perpetrators of the dastardly act will be brought to book,” he said.
