Tension as Akpabio’s faction hijacks APC office, commences sales of forms

There is palpable tension in Akwa Ibom state chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC) as the faction loyal to the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio has taken over the party’s office, located at No 6 Ekpo Obot Street, in Uyo The Trumpet gathered.
Our Correspondent gathered that after the Chairman loyal to Akpabio, was sworn in last week at the APC headquarters in Abuja, they proceeded to acquire a new office and employed new Adhoc staff, leaving the former Office controlled by senator James Akpan Udoedehe’s faction, along Ikot Ekpene road, abandoned.
When The Trumpet visited the new party office at Ekpo Obot street, some combat-ready policemen were positioned at the gate to check unwanted visitors.
It was gathered that when the party staff from the former party office in Ikot Ekpene road wanted to assume duty in the new party Office, they were turned back.

One of the staff who spoke with our correspondent on condition of anonymity said they were frustrated by the development.
“We came here this morning to report for duty but were turned back. we don’t know what to do now,” he said.
Meanwhile, senator James Udoedehe could not respond to calls and text messages to his phone when contacted to comment on the development.
