Actress and fashion entrepreneur Temi Otedola has sparked widespread conversations after openly admitting that she is a “nepo baby,” saying she sees no reason to deny the privileges that came with her upbringing.
Speaking during an episode of The How Far Podcast alongside her husband, Mr. Eazi, Temi explained that privilege is not limited to celebrity status but also includes being raised in a financially comfortable environment with access to quality education, food, and opportunities.
According to her, many people benefit from circumstances beyond their control, and acknowledging those advantages is more honest than pretending everyone starts from the same position.
To illustrate her point, Temi noted that parents with influence or financial resources can easily connect their children with industry professionals or fund projects such as music videos, giving them opportunities that may not be available to others.
She also argued that recognising privilege does not diminish an individual’s hard work or achievements but instead reflects an understanding of the different realities people experience.

Mr. Eazi echoed her views during the discussion, saying he has also benefited from opportunities created by the efforts of those who came before him.
Temi’s comments have since gone viral across social media, with Nigerians expressing mixed reactions.
While many applauded her for candidly acknowledging her background, others reignited the long-running debate over the role family connections and privilege play in shaping success in the entertainment industry.
Temi is the daughter of billionaire businessman Femi Otedola, and her remarks have added fresh momentum to conversations about nepotism, privilege, and merit in Nigeria’s creative sector.
