The Taraba State Primary Health Care Development Agency has set an ambitious target to immunize 1,133,445 children in its upcoming Outbreak Response (OBR) vaccination campaign, aimed at shielding children across the state from preventable diseases. The campaign is slated to begin this Thursday, prioritizing high-risk areas to ensure widespread protection.
During a Social Mobilization Committee (SMC) meeting in Jalingo, agency officials emphasized the campaign’s role in strengthening public health across Taraba, aiming to curb the spread of vaccine-preventable illnesses. The agency has received a delivery of 1,173,950 vaccines, reassuring the public of sufficient supplies to meet the campaign’s goals.
The agency urged parents, guardians, and caregivers to support the effort by welcoming health workers tasked with administering the vaccines. “We have enough vaccines for every eligible child, and all preparations are in place,” officials stated, calling for full cooperation to maximize coverage across communities.

To enhance the campaign’s impact, the agency is working with religious leaders, traditional rulers, and the media to drive awareness and encourage compliance. Plans are also in place to reach remote and underserved areas, ensuring that no child is left unprotected.
Alhaji Abba Tukur Abba, Chairman of the SMC and the Galadima of Muri, echoed the agency’s appeal for full community support, stressing, “Every eligible child must be vaccinated to achieve the campaign’s success.”
The meeting, supported by UNICEF, gathered diverse stakeholders, including representatives from security agencies, private schools, and religious bodies like the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the Muslim Council of Nigeria (MCN), along with WHO and Chigari Foundation members, demonstrating the widespread commitment to safeguarding the health of Taraba’s children.
