The Ijaw ethnic nationality in Delta State has pledged its continued loyalty and support for Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, committing to back his administration and future ambitions. Alaowei Broderick Bozimo, Chairman of the Ijaw Leaders and Stakeholders and a former Minister of Police Affairs, expressed this commitment during a courtesy visit to the Governor at Government House, Asaba.
Bozimo, an elder statesman, praised Governor Oborevwori’s achievements, describing him as a leader who continuously surprises the Ijaw nation with tangible progress. “It brings me great joy to express our deepest appreciation for the positive changes you are bringing to the Ijaw people and Deltans as a whole,” Bozimo remarked. “You have proven to be a ‘talk-and-do’ governor, and we will stand with you in 2027, campaigning on your behalf.”
He acknowledged several projects initiated by Oborevwori’s administration that have directly benefited the Ijaw nation, with more initiatives on their wish list. “We have witnessed your good works, and like Oliver Twist, we ask for even more,” Bozimo added, vowing that the Ijaw people would rally in support of the governor’s second term.

In response, Governor Oborevwori extended his condolences to Bozimo, who recently lost his daughter, and expressed gratitude for the Ijaw nation’s unwavering support. He noted that Delta South Senatorial District, including Ijaw communities, played a significant role in his victory, with no local government area in the district voting against him.
Oborevwori applauded the Ijaw people for their political unity and urged other ethnic groups to follow their example. “The unity within the Ijaw nation is inspiring, and I hope to see this level of solidarity spread across Delta State and beyond,” he stated. He also committed to reviewing the requests presented by the Ijaw leaders, promising a continued partnership in Delta’s development.
