The Taraba State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has activated its campaign machinery for the 2027 governorship election with the unveiling of a 281-member campaign council.
The campaign council, constituted under the leadership of the state PDP Chairman, Abba Sale, was unveiled on Tuesday, during a press briefing in Jalingo, the Taraba State capital.
The development signals an early organisational effort by the ruling party as political activities gradually intensify ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

According to the party, the 281-member structure is divided into various directorates, zonal committees and specialised sub-committees to coordinate campaign activities across the state.
The structure includes the directorate of campaign, as well as zonal campaign committees for the northern, central and southern zones of Taraba State.
It also provides for campaign patrons and a directorate of strategy, research and planning, reflecting the party’s decision to establish specialised units for different aspects of the campaign.
Other key components of the structure include the directorates of field operations, political affairs and stakeholders relations, alongside dedicated directorates for women engagement and youth engagement.
The party also created a directorate of communication and media, with other units assigned responsibilities
