The Taraba State Primary Health Care Development Agency has intensified its collaborative efforts with the Chigari Foundation to garner support from traditional leaders in advocating for routine immunization across communities in the state.
During a one-day meeting of the Taraba State Emirates/Chiefdom Committee on Health (ECCOH) in preparation for the upcoming National Immunization Plus Days (NIPDs) campaign, Dr. Tukura Nuhu Nyigwa, the Executive Secretary of the Agency, disclosed this renewed partnership.
Dr Tukura commended the Chigari Foundation for its steadfast commitment to promoting immunization activities, highlighting its invaluable assistance to the Dr Agbu Kefas administration in its endeavours to bolster the state’s healthcare system.

Addressing the secretaries of various Emirates and Chiefdoms, the Executive Secretary urged them to actively engage community members in eliminating barriers to accessing Primary Health Care facilities, thereby enhancing immunization uptake.
During his presentation, Ibrahim Mohammed Bello, the Senior Advocate Consultant of the Chigari Foundation in the state, implored traditional leaders to leverage their influence and credibility to dispel myths, rumours, and misconceptions surrounding vaccines, emphasizing their safety and efficacy.
Furthermore, Mohammed, the Programme Officer at Chigari Foundation, stressed the importance of secretaries serving as conduits for information exchange between healthcare authorities and community members, ensuring the dissemination of vital details regarding vaccination schedules, locations, and the significance of adherence to immunization protocols.
