The Community Liaison Officer for the bridge construction project in Ibi local government council of Taraba state, Akoga Christopher Philemon, has raised alarm regarding the suspension of the bridge.
The bridge construction project, which commenced in 2020 has been halted for the past year due to alleged paucity of funding from the federal government.
Despite substantial progress, the Reynolds Construction Company (RCC), responsible for the project, has ceased operations and vacated the site, citing financial constraints and uncertainties surrounding future funding.
The suspension of the project poses significant risks to the safety, connectivity, and economic development of the community.
The Incomplete construction work, including partially constructed pillars in the river, presents dangers to local boat operators, particularly during periods of river overflow.
