Spanish prosecutors on Friday said they would seek a prison sentence of more than eight years against global music superstar Shakira, after she rejected a plea deal on accusations of tax evasion.

She is charged with failing to pay the Spanish government 14.5 million euros in taxes between 2012 and 2014.

The prosecutors said the Colombian superstar would also seek a fine of more than 23 million euros.

The 45-year-old “Hips don’t Lie” songstress this week rejected a settlement deal offered by prosecutors, opting to go to trial instead.
