The 2026 President’s Federation Cup kicked off Wednesday with a series of thrilling matches in the Round of 64, producing early shocks as several top-flight sides were eliminated.
Katsina United, Niger Tornadoes, and Lobi Stars were among the notable casualties in a dramatic set of fixtures.
In matches decided by penalties, Kwara United edged Sporting Supreme 4-2 after a 2-2 draw, while Sokoto United overcame Mojoda FC in a shootout.
Sapele Lions stunned Katsina United 3-1 on penalties following a 2-2 stalemate, and Adamawa United narrowly defeated Agbana Wonderful Academy 5-4 after a 1-1 draw.
Other results saw Bendel Insurance claim a 2-1 victory over Katsina United Jnr, Crown FC beat Cynosure FC 2-0, and El-Kanemi Warriors secure a 1-0 win against Krusaders FC. Akwa United cruised past Wilbros FC 3-0, while Shooting Stars stunned Kebbi United 2-1.
Wikki Tourists, Bayelsa United, and Bida Lions also advanced, with Warri Wolves, Rivers United, Enugu Rangers, and Ejigbo City joining the list of winners.

Nasarawa United defeated Westgate FC 3-1, while Kogi United knocked out Lobi Stars in an intense penalty shootout that ended 8-7 after a goalless draw.
Elsewhere, Plateau United, Ingas FC, FC Basira, Ikorodu City, Jigawa GS, Enyimba FC, Gombe United, Sunshine Stars U19, Warinje FC, and Barau FC progressed to the next stage.
The competition continues on Thursday, May 21, with Kada Warriors facing Campus FC in Anyigba at 4pm and ABU DLC taking on Abakaliki FC in Makurdi at the same time.
