Greater Manchester Police has extended the bail deadline of Manchester United player Mason Greenwood to mid-June.
Greenwood was arrested on Sunday, January 30, 2022, for assaulting a lady with a probable intent to rape.
Greater Manchester Police got wind of the incident after a lady posted the video on social media which led to the arrest of the United player.
Since he was arrested, Greenwood has not featured in any game for United with Nike calling off his sponsorship over the incident.
According to the Greater Manchester Police, the player’s bail condition due to end on April 30, would be extended pending when the case will be heard in June.
Also reacting to the player’s misdeeds, Electronic Arts confirmed his removal from active squads on its Fifa 22 game.
“We are continuing to investigate a report made to us on Sunday 30 January of online social media images and videos posted by a woman reporting incidents of physical violence,” the force spokesman said.
“A 20-year-old man arrested that day on suspicion of the rape and assault of a woman, and threats to kill, remains on bail.
“An application has been made to the courts to have his bail extended beyond Saturday 30 April, but the hearing isn’t expected to be until mid-June.
“The suspect will remain on conditional bail until the date of the court hearing,” he added.
