Barely 24 hours after the Akwa Ibom state APC governorship candidate Akan Udofia was sacked by the Federal High court sitting in Uyo, the embattled politician has entered another trouble as the state government threatened to sue him for claiming in public that the idea to float Ibom Air was mooted by him but later hijacked by Governor Udom Emmanuel in the state.
Udofia in a short video had claimed in front of his supporters that the idea to float Ibom Air was his brainchild including the Aircrafts in the fleet of Ibom Airline
In the short video which was circulated in various WhatsApp groups and social media platforms, Udofia was seen boasting that Ibom Air remains a product of his endeavours though it was taken over by Governor Udom Emmanuel.
In a statement signed by the state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice Uko Essien Udom(SAN) and made available to newsmen in Uyo on Tuesday, the state government threatened to sue Udofia for false claims.
The statement reads in parts:
“It has been brought to the notice of the office of the Attorney General that one Akan Udofia claims in a short video, circulated on WhatsApp groups and social media platforms that the idea of setting up Ibom Air was his.
“The said Akan Udofia, we are told had in the past also claimed that some of the aircraft in the fleet of Ibom Air belonged to him.”
The state Attorney General notified the public that the embattled APC gubernatorial candidate sacked by the court has no propriety interest in Ibom Air not even in all the Aircraft in the fleet.
