A women’s group under the banner of Rivers Women Unite for SIM has vowed to intensify prayers for peace, unity, and development in Rivers State. The group made this declaration during their monthly praise and prayer session held in Port Harcourt on Thursday, November 28, 2024.
The women emphasized their unwavering commitment to praying for the state, asserting that no amount of negative attacks or distractions could deter their faith and dedication.
Speaking at the event, Barrister Tamunoibuemi Life-George, a leading member of the group, described the platform as a vital avenue for women to unite in faith, foster spiritual growth, and address societal challenges.
“Our prayers focus on promoting peace, encouraging community development, and addressing pressing social issues. We believe that God will continue to secure our beloved Rivers State and guide its development,” she stated.
In line with the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and Girls, the group called on the public to take proactive measures in protecting women from all forms of violence, harassment, and intimidation.
“It is unacceptable, especially in this era of equal opportunities and human rights, for women to face harassment, violence, or acts that debase and dehumanize them. We urge everyone to uphold the dignity and safety of women,” they said in a joint statement.
The group also decried the actions of detractors attempting to stoke tension in Rivers State, describing such acts as detrimental to the state’s growth and progress.

The session also marked the group’s end-of-year activities, with women from all 23 Local Government Areas in Rivers State in attendance. Several members shared heartfelt reflections on the significance of their monthly gatherings, emphasizing how the sessions foster unity and serve as a platform for interceding for the progress of the state.
