Rivers United narrowly edged Khana FC 1-0 in the semifinals of the Rivers State AITEO tournament yesterday, at the Sharks Stadium, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) topflight team, arduously fought to secure the victory against a relentless side.
Following an impressive outing in a cracker against Plateau United before falling to an unfortunate loss to Wikki Tourists of Bauchi, Rivers United got the win against Khana FC through Nyima Nwagua’s goal.
According to NPFL table leaders, the dominance exerted by them in the early stage of the game paid off which resulted in the 24-minute goal from a perfect cross by Ebube Duru.

Although, the losing side launched a reprisal attack to tally the scoreline, coach Stanley Eguma-led side allayed all intending threats and shoved them to their own box.
Consequently, Rivers United having qualified for the AITEO cup final will play against Police Crime Bursters FC on Wednesday, 15th June 2022, at Sharks Stadium, Portharcourt.
