Rep member distributes medical equipments to PHCs in Isoko

as Delta Health Commissioner, Onojaeme lauds gesture

Member representing Isoko Federal Constituency, Hon. Jonathan Ukodhiko, on Friday, facilitated the provision of medical equipment worth millions of naira to Primary Healthcare Centers (PHCs) in the Constituency.

Flanked by Delta State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Joseph Onojaeme and Executive Assistant on New Media to the State Governor, Mr Felix Ofou at the Flagging off of the distributions, Hon. Ukodhiko stated that the intervention was geared towards improving healthcare service delivery in Isoko.

The 5 beneficiary-Primary Healthcare Centers are Edherie in Aviara Clan, Orie in Irri Clan, Isi in Emevor Clan, Otor-Igho in Owhe Clan, and Okpe-Isoko, each got, 6 hospital beds and foams, 1 cabinet, 10 curtains, 6 bedsheets and pillow cases, 1 mobile stretcher, 6 blankets and 7 stainless wash hand bowls .

The PHCs also got 3 hospital screens, 1 wheelchair, 2 cartons of surgical gloves, 1 electric kettle, 1 stainless bowl with cover, 1 first aid box, 1 oxygen cylinder, 1 Accu-chek machine, 1 accu-chek test strips, 1 thermometer, 10 packets of nosemarks, 1 stainless bucket, 1 big stainless bowls with cover, 2 dissecting forceps, 2 dressing forceps, 1 artery forceps and 1 chistle and forceps each.

Giving his remark, the House of Representatives member said the provision of the medical equipments through the Project Development Institute (PRODA), was in fulfillment of his electioneering campaign in 2023 he made to the Isoko people.

Saying that, “We are focused on what we can do to improve healthcare services in Isoko-nation. We will continue to enhance the Primary Healthcare Centers which are closest to our people.

“We found that, many Primary Healthcare Centers are not well equipped. We are going to equip those Healthcare Centers in collaboration with the Delta State Government led by Gov. Sheriff Oborevwori.

“The State Government has done a lot to improve the healthcare centers in the State, and we will work together to ensure the PHCs in Isoko Federal Constituency are well equipped in order for our people to have access to basic health services.” Hon. Ukodhiko assured.

The Isoko Federal lawmaker promised to reach out to all PHCs in Isoko with more medical equipments and, also see to the re-training of health officers to meet up with the current challenges being faced in the health sector.

Commissioner for Health, Delta State, Dr.Joseph Onojaeme thanked the member representing Isoko Federal Constituency for the provision of the medical equipments to Primary Healthcare Centers in Isoko.

Applauding the House of Representative member for his intervention, Dr. Onojaeme stated that, Primary Healthcare Centers are the fulcrum of healthcare, saying “equipping the PHCs, 80 per cent of health challenges have been solved.” He stated.

The Health Commissioner called on other political office holders and members of the private sector to emulate the Hon Jonathan Ukodhiko in equipping the State Primary Healthcare Centers.
