Wife of the President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu has distributed empowerment items to 500 indigent women in Ebonyi State.
The items include deep freezers, mass gas cockers with ovens, power generators and industrial grinding machines to support the beneficiaries in starting new businesses or improving their existing enterprises.
Presenting the items, the wife of the president who was represented by wife of the Ebonyi State Governor, Mrs. Mary-Maudline Nwifuru, said the gesture is also ongoing in Abia, Anambra, Enugu and Imo States simultaneously.
She disclosed that the programme is made possible through the office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Tinubu opined that by the end of the nationwide roll out of the initiative, 18,000 women would have been empowered across the country with 500 beneficiaries selected from each state and FCT.

The initiative was first launched in Abuja, for the North Central zone on the February 2025, followed by the distribution of empowerment items in the South South zone on April 25, 2026 and the South West zone on the August 23, 2025.
She said the programme aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu in recognizing the critical role women play in nation building.
She encouraged the beneficiaries to use the items judiciously to actualize the objective.
Representative of the Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), Ify Ukaegbu, warned the beneficiaries against selling the items.
She said the gesture is to expand economic opportunities for indigent and vulnerable women in the country.
