An indigenous furniture-making industry, Thekan Services, has secured a partnership with the Bank of Industry (BOI) to explore furniture business in Akwa Ibom state.
Executing the partnership deal at the company’s factory located at Technical College Abak, during a working visit to the firm on Monday, the Regional Manager of the bank, Mr. Paqueen Irabo, said the partnership with the company is in line with its continued support to independent manufacturing companies towards maximizing Nigeria’s economic potentials for optimal socio-economic growth.
The Bank of Industry commended Thekan Services for delivering high-quality furniture products using the state-of-the-art workshop.
Irabo, who was accompanied by the Executive Chairman of Akwa Ibom State Technical Education Board, Dr. Godwin Udom, and Managing Director of Ibom FADAMA Microfinance Bank, Miss Imabong Etuk, as well as Branch Managers of Bank Of Industry for Akwa Ibom and Cross River States, observed that Thekan products are of international standard that can compete with others in the foreign market.
He said BOI financial support will assist the company to acquire more modern equipment and raw materials for its production to meet the day-to-day demand of the product and wider market for the company’s products, both in the local and international markets.
He charged the company with the need for effective marketing and awareness campaigns for its products.

Irabo explained that the Bank of Industry (BOI) was willing to finance the sourcing of local raw materials when the market is identified.
Receiving the bank team, the Branch Operational Manager of Thekan Services, Engr Uboho Dickson, while conducting the south-south regional manager and his team round the factory, appreciated the Bank of Industry for its partnership, promising a commitment to the production of standard and quality furniture using modern expertise and machines.
