By Suru Charles

Clerics in Yobe state of Nigeria, have been urged not to relent in praying for the nation’s prosperity and its leaders.

The state governor, Mai Mala Buni, made the calls today while playing host to the National Leader of Jama’atul Izzalatu Bid’a wa ikhamatu Sunnah (JIBWIS), Shiek Abdullahi Bala Lau, who paid him a courtesy call.

The governor, who was of the view that religious leaders have great roles to play in shaping the thinking of leaders, the people and the government for a better country, said “You serve as reminders, guiding leaders in government and the society.”

“The sermons and preaching of clerics should guide leaders to serve God and humanity for an improved welfare to the people.”

Also speaking, Shiek Bala Lau, said he led Yobe state leaders of the Islamic organisation to congratulate the governor on the award of the National Honour of Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) conferred on him, by President Mohammadu Buhari.

While assuring the governor of JIBWIS support for his administration to succeed, he said “We will continue praying for Yobe state and Nigeria for sustainable peace, progress and prosperity”.
