Political thugs on Monday went on rampage and disrupted the congress of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Enugu.
It was learnt that the venue of the congress, the Aborigene Hall in Enugu, came under attack after members of the party gathered for the event.
The development is coming barely 24 hours after former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi and ex-Governor of Kano State, Rabiu Kwankwaso, defected to the party in Abuja.
Recall that the duo were formally received into the party by NDC National Leader, Sen. Seriake Dickson, alongside other their supporters at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja on Sunday evening.
At the Enugu congress, it was gathered that problem started after a motion was moved for the dissolution of the protem State Working Committee.
Following the motion, suspected political thugs emerged and ordered everyone out of the venue.
“They started by bringing down some of the banners and then ordered everyone out of the place.

“They joined the NDC just yesterday, Sunday, after Mr. Peter Obi defected to the party, now they want to hijack the entire structure,” an angry party member said.
However, the congress later went on with the Enugu chapter of the party announcing a former aide to ex-Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Johnpaul Anih, as new state chairman.
Anih, who previously served as special assistant on youth affairs to Ugwuanyi, emerged victorious at the NDC state congress held on Monday in Enugu.
