The Ebonyi State Police Command has presented cheques totaling over N13.2 million to the next-of-kin of deceased police officers in the state.
The Commissioner of Police, Hope Urunwa-Okafor, presented the cheques on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Joshua Ukandu, said the gesture demonstrates the police commitment to the welfare of its personnel and their families, even after their demise.

The commissioner of police advised the beneficiaries to use the funds judiciously for their welfare and that of their children, and cautioned them against lending the money or investing it in risky businesses.
Responding on behalf of the families, Mrs. Ngozi Oruh appreciated the inspector-general of police and the state commissioner of police for the support and concern for families of deceased officers and assured them of making judicious use of the money.
