The Oyo State Police Command has arrested 10 suspected members of a syndicate allegedly involved in the illegal trade in human parts, recovering suspected human remains and charms from their hideouts.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, disclosed this in a statement issued to journalists on Saturday in Ibadan.
Ayanlade said the suspects were apprehended at separate hideouts in Iseyin and Saki following months of intelligence gathering and discreet surveillance by operatives of the command’s monitoring unit.
According to him, searches conducted after the arrests led to the recovery of several suspected human parts, including a suspected human heart, human flesh, pieces of human skull and assorted charms.

He said the recovered exhibits had been secured for forensic examination as investigators continued efforts to unravel the circumstances surrounding their source, procurement and intended use.
The police spokesman added that the suspects were cooperating with investigators, while efforts were ongoing to identify and apprehend other alleged members of the syndicate.
The Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Mr. Abimbola Olugbenga, commended the police officers involved in the arrests for their painstaking, intelligence-driven operation.
Olugbenga reaffirmed the command’s commitment to dismantling criminal networks across the state and protecting the sanctity of human life.
