The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has foiled a planned kidnapping operation in border communities within Bwari Area Council, arresting three suspected kidnappers during a coordinated security operation.
The Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, led the operation on April 8, 2026, during an operational tour of Gidandogo, Garam, and Kungabako villages—areas located along the boundaries of the FCT, Niger, and Kaduna states.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the FCT, SP Josephine Adeh, in a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja said the tour, was part of ongoing efforts to assess and strengthen security deployments in vulnerable border communities.
During the operation, police operatives arrested three suspects identified as Nasiru Abdullahi, Samaila Dahiru, and Bello Usman.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Abdullahi and Dahiru, both from Kweri village in Kaduna State, were allegedly involved in the abduction of a farmer, Mallam Bako, from his farmland in Gushawai village on the same day.
The victim was reportedly taken to a forest in Kweri, where the suspects demanded a ransom of ₦50 million. He was later rescued by operatives of the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit.
Further intelligence indicated that the third suspect, Bello Usman, also known as Dagejo, had been on the Command’s watchlist for two years. He was described as a key informant and logistics supplier, allegedly coordinating with bandits from Kaduna State to launch attacks in the FCT during the Easter period.
Police said his arrest disrupted the planned attacks.
Items recovered from Usman include one AK-47 rifle, a magazine, and 12 rounds of live ammunition.
The Commissioner of Police assured residents of the Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, urging the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities through designated emergency lines.
