The Zone 3 Police Headquarters in Yola, Adamawa State, has dismissed as false a social media report alleging that Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Akinwale Adeniran was forcibly retired from the police by the Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu.
In a press release, the command described the claim, which circulated on a WhatsApp platform identified as “Great Nigeria Renaissance,” as false, misleading, and without any iota of truth.
Signed by the Zonal Police Public Relations Officer, SP Aminu Bashir, the police clarified that Adeniran retired after attaining the statutory retirement age of 60 years, in line with the relevant laws and extant regulations governing retirement in the police and the federal civil service.
According to the statement, the senior officer concluded a distinguished career marked by dedication, professionalism, and integrity, stressing that his retirement followed the normal administrative process and should not be misconstrued or sensationalised.

The Zone 3 Command urged the public to disregard the publication and avoid spreading unverified information capable of misleading the public or undermining the image and cohesion of the police.
It also called on journalists, bloggers, and social media users to verify information through official and credible sources before publication or dissemination.
Reaffirming its commitment to transparency and professionalism, the command thanked members of the media for their continued support in promoting accurate and responsible reporting.
