  • Kaduna State Police Command arrested two suspects over the kidnapping of an elderly man in Kaduna State.
  • One of the suspects, Yusuf Rabo, is alleged to be the biological son of the victim, Jelani Rabo.
  • Police said the kidnappers operated from forest hideouts and used firearms, including an AK-47 rifle recovered during investigations.
  • Authorities alleged the victim was kidnapped twice, with ransom payments totaling ₦6.5 million.
  • The suspects were also linked to other kidnapping and armed robbery cases, while police continue searching for another suspect, Ali Haruna.

The police disclosed that both men were apprehended during investigations into a criminal syndicate linked to kidnapping, armed robbery and unlawful possession of firearms across parts of Kaduna State and neighbouring communities.

The arrest of the two suspects was contained in a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, Anthony Placid, in Abuja.

He said police investigations revealed that the gang operated from forest hideouts where victims were kept, while ransom negotiations took place.

Also, the police spokesperson disclosed that the syndicate allegedly used sophisticated firearms for its operations, adding that one AK-47 rifle with an empty magazine was reportedly recovered during the operation, while efforts are ongoing to trace additional weapons connected to the group.

Furthermore, the police alleged that the victim, identified as Jelani Rabo, was abducted on more than one occasion and taken to forest camps where ransom negotiations were allegedly coordinated by his son, Yusuf Rabo.
