The Delta State Police Command has arrested 22 suspected drug dealers and rescued two minors during an intelligence-led raid on identified illicit drug dens in Ozoro and Abraka.
The operation, carried out on July 21 at about 3:00 p.m., was led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, targeting criminal hideouts in Ofagbe Community, Ozoro, Ekrejeta and the NUT Area of Abraka following credible intelligence.
Police spokesman, SP Bright Edafe, said the raid resulted in the arrest of 22 suspects, comprising 19 men and three women, over alleged offences bordering on the sale, possession and distribution of illicit drugs.
Edafe added that officers also rescued two minors found in a suspected drug den allegedly operated by their father.
According to him, the children have been taken into protective custody and will be handed over to the Delta State Ministry of Women Affairs for proper care, while investigations into the activities of the suspects continue.

Commissioner of Police, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, condemned the exposure of minors to environments linked to illicit drug activities, describing the development as disturbing.
He reiterated the command’s commitment to dismantling drug networks and protecting vulnerable persons across the state.
The police commissioner urged parents, guardians and community leaders to support security agencies with credible information, assuring residents that intelligence-led operations against drug-related crimes and other criminal activities would be sustained throughout Delta State.
