The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a 19-year-old Shilla gang member in possession of hard drugs and dangerous weapons.
The suspect, identified as Haruna Yau, a resident of Jambutu Nafan in Yola North Local Government Area, was apprehended by police officers during a routine patrol along the Doubeli Bypass in Jimeta.
According to the command, a search conducted on the suspect led to the recovery of suspected illicit substances, including tramadol (100mg) and diazepam tablets.
Also, police officers recovered a knife and a pair of scissors from the suspect.
The arrest, police authorities said, forms part of ongoing efforts to combat criminal activities and dismantle Shilla gangs, whose operations have continued to pose security concerns in parts of the state.
The suspect is currently in police custody while investigations continue.
The command disclosed that he would be charged in court upon the conclusion of investigations.

Reacting to the development, the state Commissioner of Police, Kabir Hassan, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to ridding the state of criminal elements and ensuring the safety of residents.
He also urged the public to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible information that would assist in crime prevention and law enforcement efforts.
The police command reiterated its determination to sustain the fight against criminality and maintain peace, law, and order across Adamawa State.
